Zulat & the Fair Regulation Movement, through Attorney Dr. Yifat Solel, have petitioned the Supreme Court against the manner in which the Israeli government, its ministers, and the Prime Minister, engage with media outlets – primarily against providing economic advantages to Channel 14 through budget diversions and exclusive interviews.
In the petition, the High Court is asked to issue an Order Nisi (injunction) directing the Attorney General to establish clear guidelines for interactions between senior government officials and media organizations – whether these interactions were against payment, in-kind compensation, or economic preference. This is intended to prevent the misuse of state resources, distortion of the media market, and violation of the principle of equality.
The petition further argues that the government is acting unlawfully by unilaterally severing its connections with "Haaretz" newspaper, while creating a clear economic preference for a
specific media outlet, based on political considerations. Continuation of the current situation would allow government ministers and the Prime Minister to continue improperly using state budgets and providing economic advantages to a commercial entity in bad faith, based on illegitimate considerations and for the promotion of its political objectives.
