Zulat scores yet another achievement: On 12 January 2022, MK Ahmad Tibi (Joint List) passed the preliminary reading of the draft bill formulated in our position paper “A CAMERA ON EVERY POLICEMAN: Exposing Police Violence, Protecting the Rights of Protesters.“ According to the bill, policemen will be required to operate body cameras in demonstrations, and the police will be required to put the filmed material at the disposal of the public and the media.
Both of these changes in Israel Police’s work are designed to reduce police violence, which has become a scourge affecting all sectors of society. The bill was approved by a majority of 42 MKs versus 2.
