On May 3, 2025, Aaed Badir, coordinator of Arabic-language media and communications at the Zulat Institute, participated in a protest conference at the Democratic-Struggle Headquarters in Herzliya. Badir joined Herzliya city council woman Goni Letzter for a conversation with an activist audience about the Arab aspect in the struggle to end the war and replace the government.
Among other things, he said:
“I say, and hear from leaders in Arab community, and I say this everywhere I am: the most important thing is to bring back the hostages and end the war. These are not slogans.”
“We have a government of failure. Benjamin Netanyahu rejected the mediators’ outline. There is a connection between the hostages and murder in Arab society. Netanyahu gave up on the hostages – and that’s a shame. 79 murdered in Arab society since the beginning of the year. Just in the last week, six more were murdered. The last one was a social activist who participated in every social event and protest. When they ask Minister Ben-Gvir how many murder victims there are in Arab society, he has no idea. I and many like me don’t feel there’s a Ministry of National Security that works.”
