On July 7, 2025, another discussion was held in the Knesset State Control Committee, following information exposed on our behalf by Attorney Itai Mack, through a Freedom of Information Act request, regarding Minister Ben-Gvir’s interference in police officers appointments. The discussion was attended by Zulat CEO Einat Ovadia and our policy promoter, Benzi Sikura.
When Ben-Gvir talks about the “minister’s policy,” that’s exactly what he means: he’s interested in suppression, not policing. AS a result of this policy we got a police force that diligent in arresting peaceful protesters, but fails colossally to fight criminals.
In the discussion, Ovadia asked police representatives: “Was Minister Ben-Gvir personally involved in appointment processes? Were any of his political aides involved at some level in promoting senior officers?”
Ovadia also noted that it was published on Channel I24 that the head of the Human Resources Division of the Police said that lowering the bar for recruiting police officers was a mistake and that anyone recruited under the low threshold terms would be terminated. “Is this true and is it happening?” Ovadia asked. “This reflects on the entire police force.”
